Why must things be put on a hold?

90% of the things that are put to a hold will be gone.

Why does things that are on a hold will be gone?
Just like you're on the phone with someone and the persons put you on a hold.
The longer you wait, the more impatient you will get.
Sooner or later, you will just hang up the phone.

Just like friendship, if you're going to put friendship to a hold.
I guess it will not last.
It will slowly fade away and be gone forever.
Imagine you're going to put this friendship on a hold for 8 years, it will definitely be gone !
